A really promising first game for the Blues. Not phased by the 6.00am wake up, the blues were raring to go. After a quick warm up, Cambridge scored 9 unanswered goals in the first nine minutes with goals from Captain Amelia Miller, Vice captain Ella Benson, Tashy Rodgers, Julie Wise and Katie Lehovsky. Bath resorted to calling a time out to try and interrupt the flow of our game. This partially worked with a half time score 13-3. A team talk from Miller prompted a new burst of energy with the attack working on picks and assisted goals in preparation for the Exeter game next week. This was reflected in 57% of goals being assisted and 8 different scorers out of a potential 13. The midfield defending also stepped up with 29 turnovers caused during the match. A special mention should go to centre Lehovsky and the midfield who won 79% of the draws, creating an uphill battle for a Bath. Hat tricks from Lehovsky, Miller and Rodgers left us with a second half score of 15-2, making the final score a decisive 28-5, reflecting the whole team effort. Player of the match went to fresher Erica Wallace who did a fantastic job in midfield.
