Incoming Freshers 2017

We invite any girls interested in playing Lacrosse at Uni to our informal pre-season training in Cambridge in late September for four days (dates tbc). We welcome players from any standard of school team, provided that they have played in the sixth forms. The training will consist of skills sessions, drills and mini-matches to rebuild the squad’s focus after a long summer! These sessions have proven to be extremely enjoyable in the past and a perfect opportunity for those thinking of carrying on lacrosse at Cambridge to meet current members in the squad. The Social Secretaries will organize dinners and social events for us all in the evenings, and the emphasis throughout the four days is getting to know everyone whilst preparing for our season.

Lacrosse is one of the best sports to get involved in at Cambridge, and we pride ourselves on arguably being the most successful (and sociable!) female sports team in the University. Cambridge Blues were BUCS Champions in 2013 and 2012 beating Durham and Birmingham in the respective finals, and have reached the semi-finals in every year since. The 2nd team, known as the Kingfishers, does well in the BUCS Trophy and their league annually, highlighting the strength and depth of our squad. As well as success on the field, the lacrosse girls have a great reputation for being a really fun group of close friends and the overwhelmingly positive social culture of the Club makes us stand out among the other University teams in Cambridge.

In terms of accommodation in Cambridge, you will be able to apply for early access to your rooms by phoning/emailing your college. However, if that is not possible, we can provide you with accommodation with current players and squad members host a number of girls each year.

If you are interested or have any questions, please email our President Fenella James (fmgj2@cam.ac.uk). We look forward to hearing from you!!
